Engineer Tech Jobs in Asheville, NC

An Engineer Tech, also known as an Engineering Technician, plays a crucial role in the engineering industry by providing technical support to Engineers. They assist in research, development, design, and testing, and are often involved in the production process. They use their technical skills to troubleshoot equipment problems, prepare specifications for parts, or set up and operate new equipment. They often work in areas like civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering. Their work involves applying theoretical knowledge in practical applications, which makes them crucial team members in solving technical problems.

As for skills, Engineer Techs should be proficient in problem-solving, have a solid understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts, and be competent in using computer-aided design (CAD) software. They should also be detail-oriented and have strong teamwork and communication skills. A diploma or an associate degree in engineering technology is generally required for this position, and professional certification, such as Certified Engineering Technician (CET), can be beneficial. Prior to becoming an Engineer Tech, a person may have roles such as Technical Assistant, CAD Drafter, or Junior Technician, which provide relevant experience in technical troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and engineering designs.
