Layer 3 IP Engineer

Job Description:

• The Layer 3 IP Engineer

• This role focuses on Hardware along with Operating Software. The initial implementation is included along with the lifecycle management (ie. Move, Add, Change, and Decommissioning). The hardware is configured via command line interface and automation.

• Key Activities include Change Management Preparation & Planning, Maintenance Window Implementation, and Collaboration with Project Teams.

• Able to work with minimal supervision and partner with the Implementation / Maintenance teams.

• Configure Cisco & Juniper Layer 3 Devices via Command Line Interface & Automation: Routers, Switches, Terminal Servers

• Hardware & Software Deployment

• Hardware & Software Maintenance

• Upgrades: Hardware (Card, Routing Engines, etc.) & Software (IOS, etc.)

• Traffic Migrations

• Link and Port Augments

• Collaboration with Project Teams

• Some government work from time to time. Ex. FirstNet, CALEA agencies, E911.

• Flex hours and split shift: Half days and half nights 3 to 4 days a week. Daytime work 1 to 2 days a week.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience nice to have

• Project based work in a team environment

• Cisco CCNA and/or Juniper JNCIA certification

• Experience in n

• ew build configuration on Cisco IOS or Junos OS

• Routing/L3: Provisioning/Life Cycle/Troubleshooting experience

• MPLS VPN Architecture (P, PE, CE) experience preferred

• Python and Ansible desired

• Must be able to work half night shift or full night shift 3 to 4 nights a week.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
