Waymo's Systems Engineering team works together to blend software and hardware systems in groundbreaking new ways. We set the high performance standards that ensure our vehicles run smoothly and keep passengers safe, then design and perform the tests that validate that performance. We're looking for talented teammates who'll help us maintain strong teamwork and are passionate about driving results.
In this hybrid role, you will report to a Systems Engineering Manager.
You will:
- Use your deep knowledge of complex AV/ADAS hardware/software systems and well honed systems engineering best practices to contribute to a cutting edge collision avoidance test program
- Work with various partner teams across the company to deeply understand the collision avoidance problem space and help prioritize the right long-term solutions
- Contribute to the full stack: envision new frameworks, create new process/procedures/tools, define coverage requirements, support test planning and execution, perform data analysis, and prioritize and clearly communicating results to stakeholders
- Design and implement automation to assist in test generation, interpretation and analysis
You have:
- 5+ years of experience in collision avoidance and/or a strong AV/ADAS background
- Degree in a technical or quantitative field or equivalent practical experience and 5+years relevant work experience in robotics, aerospace automotive systems engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong team player who communicates clearly
- A passion for improving road safety through the thoughtful application of robotics systems and automation
We prefer:
- Experience with cutting-edge simulation environments
- Experience designing, implementing, or using human collision avoidance reference models
- Coding knowledge in at least one of the following: SQL, Python, C, C++, or other querying or data management languages
- Experience shipping production-ready systems
- Experience in strategy, change management, and rolling-out large scale initiatives
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

$183,000-$232,000 USD
