Associate Project Engineer

*This position is located in Redding, California. We are seeking candidates for Associate Project Engineer or Project Engineer at CalPortland's Redding Cement Plant. This person will report to and assist the Plant Engineer and provide project management skills to ensure the successful development and completion of projects within budget and on schedule. They will manage projects from conception, design, procurement, installation, and follow-upn as directed.

This is a full-time salaried position working Monday through Friday, with weekends and evenings as needed based on projects. Base pay range for Associate Level is $75,000 to $85,000. And opportunity for annual bonus based on level of position and company performance.

• Assists Plant Engineer with capital projects for the plant as instructed.
• Participates in the bidding and construction of capital projects.
• Assists with the engineering phase and implementation of capital projects, including site supervision and on-site activities.
• Works with senior engineers to develop requests for proposals, bid documents, specifications, and contracts.
• Helps to evaluate construction, equipment, and service bids, and coordinates selection of successful bidders.
• Participates in technical studies, surveys, and site inspections.
• Works closely with Plant Engineer, vendors, the purchasing department, equipment suppliers, contractors, engineers, and plant personnel in the planning and execution of projects.
• Controls project costs by approving expenditures and tracking actual versus budget costs.
• Participates in project meetings and monitors project schedules.
• Ensures that projects are executed safely per prevailing safety standards and company requirements.
• Writes technical reports as required.
• Maintains department files for reference.
• Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering fields.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and solve problems as they arise.
• Understands engineering drawings and plans.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Solidworks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be able to drive and travel as required.

Preferred:

• Experience in heavy industrial engineering or manufacturing environments. Project Engineer level requires 3-5 years related work experience.
• Knowledge of safety, environmental, and building and permitting regulations; knowledge of construction materials processes, equipment, and application.
• Familiarity with SAP operating system or similar.

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
